OVERVIEW
The key theme for this workstream group focuses on the issues surrounding water resources within the Deben catchment. The working group brings together members from Water Resources East, the Environment Agency, and the East Suffolk Water Abstractors Group to better understand current challenges and develop sustainable approaches to managing water use.
WHY IT MATTERS
Water resources in the Deben catchment are under increasing pressure, with implications for both people and the environment. By addressing how water is valued and managed, the group aims to safeguard the resilience of local communities, businesses, and wildlife, ensuring the river continues to provide essential ecological and social benefits.
DELIVERY
The group organises workshops and engagement activities as part of the Recovering the River Deben programme, jointly delivered by stakeholders. It is also exploring public perceptions of water use across the catchment, including behavioural patterns, to inform future engagement and shape effective resource management strategies.
