OVERVIEW

Habitat connectivity and estuary restoration focuses on strengthening woodland and hedgerow networks across the Deben catchment. The subgroup is partner-led, bringing together the Environment Agency, Suffolk Wildlife Trust, the Woodland Trust, the Essex and Suffolk Rivers Trust, and the Forestry Commission to identify opportunities for improving habitat connectivity.

WHY IT MATTERS

Connected habitats are vital for supporting biodiversity, allowing wildlife to move freely across the landscape, adapt to changing conditions, and thrive in the long term. Enhancing these natural links also helps create a more resilient and nature-rich Deben catchment for both wildlife and people.

DELIVERY

Partners meet regularly to coordinate activity, share knowledge, and review available grants and initiatives. It also organises engagement events with landowners and the wider community, raising awareness of opportunities and showcasing successful woodland planting and restoration projects within the Deben area
